With Queensland now in the recovery phase, the outlook is looking much brighter than anticipated back in March this year.

Enquiries for apartments in the newly completed penthouse project The Horizon Collection in Brisbane’s CBD are once again picking up, private viewings have recommenced and a buzz of prime residential property activity is happening in and around the River City.

As locals, we know how great it is to work and play in the sunshine almost every day of the year being close to pristine beaches, rainforests and parklands. As highlighted in the latest Knight Frank Focus On Brisbane report, this city was ranked as the 18th most liveable in 2019 according to the Economist Intelligence Unit. Each year, the index ranks 140 global cities based on 30 factors across five areas including stability, infrastructure, education, health care and environment.

Living in and around Brisbane CBD has plenty on offer to all, from world-class schools and universities at your doorstep, botanical gardens and green spaces, fashion house shopping on Edward Street and bars and restaurants aplenty.

Rightsizing, the downsizing lifestyle trend towards luxury apartment living, is thriving in Brisbane. We continue to field enquiries and talk to clients in our southern states planning to move north or adding a second home to their property portfolios, as those in regional Queensland continue to seek a home away from home while doing business in the city.

We’ve also noticed an uptick in the number of Australian expatriates looking to buy a residence back home, for now or when they finally return, as things start to return to some normality across Australia post COVID-19. The benefits for those buying now are the favourable Australian dollar and low interest rates, which means they can afford to buy the most luxurious properties on offer, and in Brisbane, their budget can stretch much further.

According to the latest Knight Frank Australian Prime Residential Review 2020, in Sydney, US$1 million bought you 57 square metres of luxury internal floor space at the end of the first quarter of 2020. Close to double this space could be purchased in Melbourne with 109 square metres, while in Brisbane this extends out significantly to 133 square metres.

When it comes to future proofing the Queensland economy, we have some of the largest infrastructure and construction projects underway in Brisbane, the Cross River Rail Project.

The Albert Street Green Spine Project will embody our subtropical climate and outdoor lifestyle. This street will serve as a leafy connection allowing people to amble and enjoy the journey between the City Botanic Gardens and Roma Street Parkland.

Brisbane City Council is building new green bridges to make it even easier for you to walk or cycle between Kangaroo Point, the eastern suburbs and the CBD.
